Welcome to Cramlington

A modern workplace in Northumberland with an outstanding history

Near Newcastle upon Tyne, in the North East of England, is the Organon manufacturing site in Cramlington.
The site began production in 1975. Employing around 600 people the site is a producer of oral solid dose tablets and finished packs for worldwide markets. The site has highly automated production and warehouse facilities and extensive laboratories, including some that perform product stability testing for worldwide plants and partners. Our Cramlington site lies within Northumberland countryside
with clean energy-generating wind turbines on site. The connection between Organon, our surrounding nature, and our purpose as a company is demonstrated through "her promise", our vast Environmental, Social and Governance strategy - our committment to sustainibility.

As a pharmaceutical company that is focused on women, we know that nature has a significant impact on women’s health, which is why we have included strategies to reduce our environmental impact as part of our Her Promise initiative. Because being 'here for her health' means being here for her planet, too.

I was attracted by the prospect of working for a growing pharmaceutical company which was offering exciting prospects for my career personal development as well as having the opportunity of getting to work alongside familiar faces. I could also identify myself with the company values so I knew that it would have been easier to settle in. I'm really proud to be somewhere where my work has an impact not only on people around me but also on people outside of the company.

Can you describe your career journey at Organon so far?
I started as an Operator to learn the core manufacturing business and to appreciate the power of the amazing teamwork we have at Cramlington, motivated by the career growth opportunities and the amazing people who work at the site. I have subsequently developed through more roles, within and outside the site, with increasing responsibility, and am honoured to be the Cramlginton Site Lead.

What makes you proud to work for Organon?
Being part of a company with an inspiring mission and with a high performing team. Organon is leading the way in creating a platform and healthcare solutions for Women’s Health. The Cramlington site has a very important role to play in enabling that growth by consistently delivering the diverse established brands portfolio to our patients around the world.  The site role is to deliver those products flawlessly and support the company growth.  I truly feel that this site can achieve anything because of the high engagement, capability, and teamwork.

Which part of your role has given you the most satisfaction and why?
I am really enjoying being involved in major product transfers into the Cramlington site as it means the site can have more impact for Organon by directly serving more patients. It also means we can invest in new equipment, assets and infrastructure. The capital project and transfer activities also provide great development opportunities for our site team members.

Can you describe your career journey at Organon so far?I transition from our legacy company to Organon and when I reviewed the objectives for Organon I could see immediately where established brands could play a key part.  It’s been an amazing journey so far, with an expanded role for myself and wonderful investment being made in our manufacturing facility. My role is in HR and I find we live and breathe our values – allowing me to do my job well and put people at the centre of all we do. A wonderful diverse and challenging role.

What makes you proud to work for Organon?
The products we produce and sell make a real difference to our customers, the role I do and the partners I support add value at each step and I have visibility on what we do and where we fit into the local and global picture. Primarily what makes me proud are our people strategies, I could not do my job in HR without knowing our culture, compensation, benefits, policies and leadership styles were genuinely people focused.  I feel valued and am able to shape our strategy via our people.

Which part of your role/project you have worked on has given you the most satisfaction and why?

Building and launching new policies working with our founders.  Last year we wrote from scratch a Menopause policy with the aim of supporting employees, their friends and family.  It is written in an inclusive and supportive way and is designed to raise awareness and enable support.  The feedback since launch has been amazing, it’s been rolled out globally and we now have a network of Menopause Ambassadors who are trained to support anyone with menopause queries to direct them to the resources they need.
